FAQ - Energy Psychology
What is Hypnosis? Clinical Hypnosis refers to the naturally occurring state of focused awareness that is utilized to help the client ‘get out of his or her own way’ and make positive change from the inside out. The conscious mind represents just 10% of mental capacity, the tip of the iceberg. The Unconscious mind is the other 90%. When the two work in concert, the harmonies are melodious. What is Acutonics? Acutonics is acupuncture without needles. Instead, specialized tuning forks calibrated to the vibration of our solar system are placed strategically on Meridian points. Chakras are cleared and charged, energy pathways unblocked. As seen in the following video, Acutonics is gaining national attention.

What is Subliminal Focusing? Subliminal Focusing refers to the series of techniques developed by Dr. Hancox to facilitate 100% co-operation between the conscious and unconscious minds. The purpose is to maximize brainpower, increase creativity and problem solving abilities. When this dialogue is created between both parts of the mind, momentum is sustained and projects are completed. You might say a specific probe is consciously sent to the recesses of the unconscious; resources are discovered, activated and utilized to best advantage. What is Meditation? Meditation is a deep state of mental relaxation and focus. Some liken meditation to trance. Others experience it as a clearing of the mind in which no thoughts are engaged nor judged. There are many approaches to meditation such as focusing on a specific image, sound or verbal guidance. How you get to the state of meditation is not the issue; some simply walk. Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., has pioneered the use of Mindfulness Meditation in the medical setting for anxiety management. His book, Wherever you go you are Here, explains this approach beautifully.
What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is the state of being present in the very moment of being. To quote Joni Mitchell, you are not caught up in ‘thinking about the future or worrying about the past’. Instead, you are aware of the immediate sounds, tastes, visuals, textures, emotions and whatever else the senses bring to your awareness. You judge them not.
What is Qi? Qi or Chi, is Chinese for life force energy, breath of life, elixir of life. It goes by many names: in Sanskrit, the word is prana, meaning life-force, in Japanese it is Ki, the Greeks call it Pneuma and the Polynesians refer to this subtle energy as Mana. Ruah, meaning breath of life, is the Hebrew term. In some thought systems, we are born with Original Qi that depletes or can be augmented with various meditations, meridian stimulation and healing practices. Qi is the energy that is tapped into with acupuncture, acupressure and EFT. It flows through our meridians.
What are Meridians? According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, TCM, the body has 14 major energy pathways that address the five elements and energies in the body. Qi flows through these meridians. When there is a blockage, an imbalance of too much heat or cold, dry or wet, the body develops symptoms of disease. Acupuncture and acupressure and the many variants such as Shiatsu, quin na and EFT, stimulate the points to release energy blockages. When the energy flow is balanced, physical and emotional symptoms are released.
What is Qi Gong? Qi Gong is a healing art that utilizes the practitioner’s Qi for stimulating and healing the subjects’ energy patterns. To regulate and build Qi, there are a series of breath and movement exercises, over 400, that are mastered to build strength and hold the energetic charge. Mantak Chia has written extensively on the art and practice of Qi Gong.
What is Reiki? Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy. This ancient energetic healing system was reintroduced into Japan by Dr. Usui in 1914. One of his students, Mrs. Takata, brought Reiki Healing to Hawaii in 1937. It is now taught and practiced around the world. Reiki is a recognized healing modality used in hospitals and health care centers. Recommended reading: Essential Reiki by Diane Stein, 1995, Crossing Press, Berkeley, CA. What is Magnified Healing? This is energetic healing system that was introduced to Gisele King and Kathryn Anderson in 1984 while attending a seminar at the time of the Harmonic Convergence. The Embodied Spirit of Kwan Yin, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy, gave this information to the two women who have since dedicated their lives to the teaching of Magnified Healing. Energy from Source is used to heal and prepare for Ascension. To differentiate from Usui Reiki, the energy is not channeled but co-created with Source; an expression of the I AM presence.
