Hypnosis

Going into trance is a natural process that we all engage without thinking. In the clinical setting, it is a quiet, uncluttered state that facilitates making healthy choices without interferance. Easily, effortlessly, like breathing in and breathing out, just as you are doing now. You are in charge of your responses.

People who fear hypnosis do so for fear of losing control. Even in the case of stage hypnosis, when the participant chooses to make a fool of him or herself; it is a clear choice. The performer has already sought you out as the mark according to the cues you have given. You have indicated, usually non-verbally, that you want to 'lose control' by agreeing to get up on stage. Sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to act silly and disinhibited; often accompanied by the use of alcohol. In the clinical setting, there is no alcohol involved.

There are many practitioners who call themselves hypnotherapists who have learned directive protocols for trance induction and different sorts of symptom reduction strategies or reduce family dynamic distress. However, they do not all have a clinical background, nor the breadth of clinical experience to handle abreactions - intense emotional recreations of the initial insult, nor other clinical issues.

If you are interested in learning hypnosis, go to a reputable source. If you want hypnotherapy, make sure you check the providers credentials and experience first.

Medical hynosis is generally formulaic, directive and engenders fear of losing control of oneself. But again, the subject chooses to participate; some people like the predictability of the script.

Ericksonian hypnosis is a breath of Fresh A.I.R. As the participant, you learn to Access your Internal Resources easily, effortlessly with the greatest respect from the operant. It is a fun and creative process that utilizes the communications you provide. We all go in and out of trance regularly. With the Fresh A.I.R. approach, your internal resources are honed, re-tooled and maximized.

All healing starts in the mind. In my clinical experience, Ericksonian Hypnosis is a powerful way to transform inner resources and achieve permanent results. Please be aware that the mind is not synonymous with the brain; it is a construct. Your unconscious holds a wealth of resources just waiting to be tapped. Be it through sound healing, the use of tuning forks or voice, an altered state of awareness is created. The cognitive interference of disbelief is sidestepped. The brain is rewired; neuron pathways are altered. Although I have yet to encounter anyone incorporating any form of hypnosis in Energy Psychology, I find it to be a natural combination. As Dr. Wong, Ming Tat, Master Herbalist and Acupuncturist of Boston, MA said to me, "Hypnosis is the bridge between Western psychotherapy and Chinese Medicine".
