Integrated Holistic Healing - What is it?

Psychotherapy  is useful, but as with any thought system, it has its limitations. Restructuring the past by examining patterns of perception and causal behavior are important aspects of healing the mind. But what happens when the 'comfort of the known' interfaces with undoing the thinking that causes the misery you want to eradicate?

You are in what is known as a classic 'double bind'. It is a mathematical known that any set cannot be changed by a member of its own set. It requires an external force, or entity, to change the given set. This applies to working with people, members of an institution, family or the 'system' of self.

Hence, the therapist or consultant is an important asset when the system wants or requires change.

Most theories and/or practices are single minded in approach, linear and reductionist. The proverbial 'one trick pony' of any one healing modality is limited. An holistic approach to healing integrates multiple aspects to reach the various levels of the system; thus creating effective communication within our being. For example; we have a body, the brain is part of the body, a mind and spirit component that all work together to create a healthy system. They are intertwined and affect each other. The most effective healing modality incorporates the three aspects.

Importance of Energy Work

We have an energetic field surrounding the body; referred to as the etheric body, aura or magnetic field. It can be measured and seen. There are also energetic centers called chakras that are in the body, above and below. The sushumna, which runs within the spine on the central axis, connects the seven major chakras, providing the conduit of energy for each one.

Referred to as the major energetic highway, one can imagine the sushumna connecting the 12 major Acupuncture meridians, which weave across it. The Meridians have their own balance to maintain/sustain. Although these are two separately conceived systems from different cultures, dating from antiquity, the present day healer works with both to maximize healing; they affect each other.

While the energetic system is out of balance, we feel it physically, emotionally and psychologically. When energy is condensed, it can create form. A malfunctioning physical system implies an impaired energetic system. Having the tools to work with different systems, corrects the error, maximizes effect and shorten's healing time.

Western Medicine deals with the body. Western Psychology deals with the brain. Ancient Chinese Medicine (ACM) deals with primarily body, but also spirit and emotional aspects of self. It is a more integrated approach to healing, but psychology is not part of the ACM construct. Psychology is the 'new kid on the block'; ACM is thousands of years in the making.

Combining the two, energy psychology and ACM is what Integrated Holistic Healing is all about. Expansion of the mystical or metaphoric system increases the potential for effective internal communication.

Clear your inner dialogue; increase the healing.
